1.5 Roles of management as advocated by Henry Mintzberg

Henry Mintzberg, proposed that managers perform several roles that can be grouped into three categories: interpersonal, informational, and decisional.
Interpersonal Roles: These roles involve interactions with other people and include:
1. Figurehead: Represents the organization to external groups
2, Leader: Motivates and directs employees
3. Liaison: Builds and maintains relationships with people outside the organization

Informational Roles: These roles involve processing and disseminating information and include:
1, Monitor: Scans the external environment for opportunities or threats
2. Disseminator: Passes information to others in the organization
4. Spokesperson: Communicates information about the organization to external groups 

Decisional Roles: These roles involve making decisions and include:
1. Entrepreneur: Initiates changes and improvements in the organization
2. Resource allocator: Decides how to use resources
3. Negotiator: Represents the organization in negotiations with external groups
4. Disturbance handler role: Involves dealing with unexpected events or problems that arise within an organization, managing crises, providing solutions to problems, managing conflicts, and acting as a buffer between different parts of the organization.
