11.3 Types of organisational change
Organizational change refers to the process of transforming a company or organization from its current state to a desired future state. There are several types of organizational change that organizations may undertake, including:
- Structural change – involves changes to the organizational design, such as restructuring departments or altering the reporting relationships between employees.
- Cultural change – focuses on changing the attitudes, values, and behaviors of employees to better align with the organization’s goals.
- Technological change – involves the adoption and integration of new technologies into the organization’s processes and operations.
- Strategic change – involves a shift in the organization’s overall strategy or direction.
- Process change – involves changes to the way work is done, such as streamlining processes or implementing new systems.
- Behavioral change – focuses on changing the way employees behave and interact with one another.
- Transformational change – is a radical, systemic change that transforms the organization from top to bottom, often involving multiple types of change.
