7.3 Types of decisions
There are several types of decisions that individuals and organizations face, including:
- Programmed decisions: These are routine, straightforward decisions that follow a established set of rules or procedures.
- Non-programmed decisions: These are complex, non-routine decisions that require more creativity and analysis.
- Operational decisions: These decisions concern the day-to-day operations of an organization and involve managing resources, personnel, and processes.
- Strategic decisions: These decisions concern the long-term direction of an organization and involve setting goals, allocating resources, and making investments.
- Tactical decisions: These decisions concern the implementation of strategies and involve making plans, organizing resources, and coordinating efforts.
- Political decisions: These decisions involve using power, influence, and negotiation to achieve a desired outcome.
- Personal decisions: These decisions concern an individual’s personal life and often involve making choices about relationships, career, and finances.
