The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) is offering loans and bursaries to Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) potential and existing students. HELB in partnership with KASNEB established the 2023-2024 KASNEB Foundation Loans and Bursary Scheme to finance students pursing different KASNEB qualifications. KASNEB students pursing Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Certified Secretaries (CS), Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA), Certified Credit Professionals (CCP), Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD) and Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS) in accredited training institutions, colleges and universities qualify for the HELB loan. The foundation primarily targets needy students that wish to pursue a KASNEB qualification by financing their studies. Specifically, students who qualify for loan and bursaries can use it to finance KASNEB fees, registration, exam, renewal and exemption fees. Students can also use the loans and bursaries to finance tuition in KASNEB accredited institutions.

The terms and conditions for the HELB loans for KASNEB students are very friendly. Notably, the loan attracts an interest rate of 6 percent annually. The loan is due for repayment 3 years after date of completion of studies. The maximum repayment period is 60 months, with the option of choosing a lower repayment period. During disbursement KASNEB students who qualify for the HELB loan will be required to pay an administrative fee of Kshs.500.

  1. Register on the KASNEB Students’ Portal and get a registration number.
  2. Head over to https://portal.hef.co.ke/auth/signin to register, activate your account, and log in.
  3. Update your profile with your course details.
  4. Fill in your personal and parental information and upload the required documents.
  5. Under the Institution tab, choose “RCM” for tuition and/or KASNEB fees.
  6. Save your profile and apply for loans and bursaries.
  7. Add guarantor details and submit your application.
  8. Confirm and track your application status via email and the HELB portal.
