What You Will Learn

Bookkeeping Using Real Business Documents: Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of bookkeeping by working with actual business documents, including invoices, receipts, Local Purchase Orders (LPOs), payment vouchers, and bank statements. Through practical exercises, learners will develop the ability to record financial transactions accurately, maintain proper books of original entry, post to ledgers, and prepare trial balances.
Tax Computation and Online Filing (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax): This module provides in-depth training on the computation and submission of statutory taxes in accordance with Kenyan tax laws. Learners will be guided through the step-by-step calculation of Value Added Tax (VAT), Pay As You Earn (PAYE), and Income Tax for both individuals and entities. Additionally, participants will engage in live demonstrations on the iTax platform, enabling them to file returns, process amendments, manage compliance issues, and understand common tax challenges faced by businesses.
External and Internal Audit Procedures: Students will be introduced to the full audit cycle, covering both external and internal audit processes. The training includes audit planning, engagement letters, assessment of internal controls, identification of risks, and preparation of audit programs. Learners will work with real audit working papers, checklists, and substantive testing procedures used in professional practice. Emphasis is placed on evidence gathering, documentation of findings, sampling techniques, evaluation of compliance, and preparation of audit reports and management letters.

Excel Competency Testing and QuickBooks Training: This module focuses on enhancing participants’ proficiency in essential accounting software. The Excel training covers formulas, data analysis tools, pivot tables, lookup functions, financial modeling basics, and preparation of standardized accounting templates. QuickBooks training includes navigating the system, setting up chart of accounts, processing invoices and payments, managing bank reconciliations, generating financial reports, and handling common accounting tasks within the software.
Monthly Close, Reconciliations, and Financial Reporting: Learners will be trained on the month-end closing process and the preparation of accurate financial reports. This includes performing bank, supplier, and customer reconciliations; posting adjustments; handling accruals and prepayments; and identifying discrepancies. Participants will prepare complete financial statements using real business scenarios.
